Tokenomika SHIBAINU (SHIB)

The Shiba Inu ecosystem has evolved from a single meme-based token into a multi-token decentralized economy. The ecosystem primarily consists of four tokens: SHIB, BONE, LEASH, and the recently introduced TREAT. Each token serves a distinct role in governance, technology, and community engagement.

Issuance Mechanism

Shiba Inu (SHIB) was launched on the Ethereum blockchain on July 31, 2020, by an anonymous creator known as "Ryoshi." The issuance was characterized by a unique "fair launch" approach:

• Initial Supply: A total of 1 quadrillion (1,000,000,000,000,000) SHIB tokens were minted.
• Liquidity Injection: 50% of the total supply (500 trillion SHIB) was locked into a liquidity pool on Uniswap (SHIB-ETH).
• Vitalik Buterin Allocation: The remaining 50% was sent to the personal wallet of Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin.
• Burn Mechanism: As of January 2024, approximately 410.40 trillion SHIB (roughly 41.04% of the total supply) has been burned. This includes the majority of the tokens originally sent to Vitalik Buterin, who burned 410 trillion SHIB and donated the remainder to charity.
• Shibarium Burns: An automatic SHIB token burn mechanism was planned for implementation on the Shibarium Layer-2 network to further reduce supply over time.

Allocation Mechanism

Unlike many modern crypto projects, the Shiba Inu project team did not allocate a share of the total SHIB supply to themselves, employees, or advisors at launch. The allocation was split strictly between the Uniswap liquidity pool and Vitalik Buterin.

Usage and Incentive Mechanism

The ecosystem utilizes a decentralized exchange, ShibaSwap, to facilitate various incentive programs. Users can interact with the protocol through several mechanisms:

Staking (Bury)

Users can stake their tokens to earn passive rewards.

• SHIB: Stakers receive xSHIB and earn inflationary BONE rewards plus a 0.10% share of ShibaSwap transaction fees (paid in ETH).
• BONE/LEASH: Staking these tokens also yields rewards in the form of additional BONE.

Liquidity Provision (Dig)

Users can provide liquidity to pools (e.g., SHIB-ETH) to earn transaction fees.

• Rewards: Fees are distributed in SHIB and the paired asset.
• Yield Farming (Woof): Liquidity providers can stake their LP tokens to earn inflationary BONE rewards.

TREAT Token Utility

The TREAT token serves as the "grand finale" of the ecosystem stack with several specific functions:

• Governance: Grants voting power and allows users to influence liquidity pair rewards through "gauge voting" using veTREAT (vote escrowed TREAT).
• Rewards: Powers "WOOF Wars: Farming 2.0" and provides additional incentives for liquidity providers.
• Payments: Integrated into SHIB Pay for on-chain commerce.
• Access: Unlocks advanced features within the Shiba Inu "Network State" and ShibaOS.

Locking Mechanism and Unlocking Time

The Shiba Inu ecosystem does not follow a traditional venture capital-style unlock schedule because there was no private sale or team allocation. However, specific locking mechanisms exist within the protocol:

• Initial Liquidity Lock: 50% of the SHIB supply was locked in Uniswap at launch.
• Staking Locks: When users "Bury" (stake) tokens, they receive representative tokens (like xSHIB). While these represent the staked position, the underlying assets are effectively locked within the contract to generate rewards.
• Vote Escrow (veTREAT): The TREAT token utilizes a vote-escrowed model where users lock their tokens to gain increased governance influence and rewards.
• BONE Minting: BONE was previously minted at a rate of 80 BONE per Ethereum block to reward liquidity providers, though this distribution has evolved as the ecosystem matured toward the launch of Shibarium.

There are no specific "unlock dates" for team or investor tokens, as the project maintains that no such allocations were created. All tokens in circulation were either acquired on the open market or earned through protocol participation.
