Tether Reports $10B Profit in 2025, Expands with New USAT Stablecoin and Investments

  • Tether reports $10B profit, expanding into new stablecoin market.
  • Strategic investments and reserve management fuel Tether’s continued growth.
  • Tether launches USAT stablecoin, strengthens U.S. market presence in 2025.

Tether, the world’s leading stablecoin issuer, announced a net profit exceeding $10 billion for 2025, according to an independent attestation from accounting firm BDO. This marks a solid financial performance for the company, which also reported its second-largest annual issuance, adding over $50 billion in USDT to circulation throughout the year.

Strong Reserve Management Fuels Growth

The company attributed its success to strategic reserve management and investments across U.S. Treasuries, digital assets, and proprietary ventures. This disciplined approach allowed Tether to maintain a strong profit, even though its earnings were slightly lower than the $13 billion achieved in 2024.

Currently, Tether has over $186 billion USDT in circulation, supported by $193 billion in assets. This balance includes $6.3 billion in excess reserves, with the bulk of its holdings in U.S. Treasuries. In fact, Tether now holds $122 billion in U.S. government debt, making it one of the largest private holders of U.S. Treasuries worldwide.

In addition to U.S. Treasuries, Tether holds around 140 tons of gold, which serves as both an inflation hedge and a reserve asset for its gold-backed XAUT token. The company has also expanded its investments into Bitcoin mining, decentralized AI, and peer-to-peer messaging, broadening its influence across multiple sectors.

Expansion with USAT Stablecoin and U.S. Subsidiary

Tether’s expansion efforts continued in 2025 with the establishment of a U.S.-based subsidiary, marking the official launch of the USAT stablecoin. This new addition to Tether’s offerings strengthens its presence in the U.S. market and further solidifies its role as a dominant player in the global stablecoin ecosystem.

With its diversified portfolio and strategic investments, Tether continues to position itself as one of the most profitable privately held companies in the world. Through effective reserve management and innovative growth initiatives, Tether looks set to maintain its leadership in the digital asset space moving forward.

The post Franklin Templeton CEO Dismisses 50bps Rate Cut Ahead FOMC appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. Franklin Templeton CEO Jenny Johnson has weighed in on whether the Federal Reserve should make a 25 basis points (bps) Fed rate cut or 50 bps cut. This comes ahead of the Fed decision today at today’s FOMC meeting, with the market pricing in a 25 bps cut. Bitcoin and the broader crypto market are currently trading flat ahead of the rate cut decision. Franklin Templeton CEO Weighs In On Potential FOMC Decision In a CNBC interview, Jenny Johnson said that she expects the Fed to make a 25 bps cut today instead of a 50 bps cut. She acknowledged the jobs data, which suggested that the labor market is weakening. However, she noted that this data is backward-looking, indicating that it doesn’t show the current state of the economy. She alluded to the wage growth, which she remarked is an indication of a robust labor market. She added that retail sales are up and that consumers are still spending, despite inflation being sticky at 3%, which makes a case for why the FOMC should opt against a 50-basis-point Fed rate cut. In line with this, the Franklin Templeton CEO said that she would go with a 25 bps rate cut if she were Jerome Powell. She remarked that the Fed still has the October and December FOMC meetings to make further cuts if the incoming data warrants it. Johnson also asserted that the data show a robust economy. However, she noted that there can’t be an argument for no Fed rate cut since Powell already signaled at Jackson Hole that they were likely to lower interest rates at this meeting due to concerns over a weakening labor market. Notably, her comment comes as experts argue for both sides on why the Fed should make a 25 bps cut or…
