BAGUIO CITY — Lawyer Perlita Chan-Rondez, the legal counsel of the hotel where resigned Public Works official Maria Catalina E. Cabral and her driver checked in, has formally resigned.
In her “irrevocable” resignation, which took effect on Saturday, Ms. Rondez cited the need to focus on her overall well-being.
No additional reasons or circumstances surrounding the resignation were disclosed. “I will not be making further statements on the matter,” Ms. Rondez said, asking for public understanding as she steps away from the role.
Ms. Rondez is the founding partner of her law firm and has been associated with the hotel in a legal capacity for several years.
On Saturday evening, the News and Information Bureau (NBI)-Cordillera agents armed with a search warrant obtained from a Court in Baguio City sifted through hotel records and other documents to aid in the probe into Ms. Cabral’s death.
No official statement has been released by the NBI-Cordillera on the result of their search.
As of this writing, the hotel has not released a statement regarding the resignation or announced who will assume the role of legal counsel. — Artemio A. Dumlao
