PAGOH: Presiden Bersatu, Muhyiddin Yassin, mempersoalkan kaitan PRN Johor dengan kemungkinan pengampunan diraja terhadap bekas perdana menteri Najib Razak, yang kini menjalani hukuman penjara atas kesalahan rasuah.

“Najib sudah pun disabitkan bersalah,” kata Muhyiddin, yang merupakan antara pengkritik lantang skandal 1MDB sejak 11 tahun lalu, ketika berucap pada ceramah di Gersik, malam tadi.

Apabila beliau bertanya kepada lebih 70 hadirin sama ada mereka bersetuju Najib dibebaskan daripada penjara, mereka menjawab ‘tidak.

Muhyiddin turut berkata bahawa ketika beliau menjadi timbalan perdana menteri di bawah pentadbiran Najib, beliau menyuarakan kebimbangan mengenai dana pelaburan strategik milik kerajaan itu.

Beliau kemudian digugurkan daripada jawatan timbalan perdana menteri pada 2015.

Semalam, anak Najib, Nazifuddin Najib, mendakwa kemenangan besar Barisan Nasional (BN) dalam PRN Johor akan menjadi isyarat bahawa rakyat masih menyokong bekas Ahli Parlimen Pekan itu dan berharap beliau diberikan pengampunan diraja.

Najib, 72, kini sedang menjalani hukuman penjara enam tahun dalam kes SRC International Sdn Bhd.

Hukuman asal penjara selama 12 tahun dikurangkan kepada enam tahun oleh Lembaga Pengampunan pada Februari 2024, manakala denda RM210 juta turut dikurangkan kepada RM50 juta.

Tempoh hukuman beliau dijadualkan berakhir pada 23 Ogos 2028.

Franklin Templeton CEO Weighs In On Potential FOMC Decision In a CNBC interview, Jenny Johnson said that she expects the Fed to make a 25 bps cut today instead of a 50 bps cut. She acknowledged the jobs data, which suggested that the labor market is weakening. However, she noted that this data is backward-looking, indicating that it doesn’t show the current state of the economy. She alluded to the wage growth, which she remarked is an indication of a robust labor market. She added that retail sales are up and that consumers are still spending, despite inflation being sticky at 3%, which makes a case for why the FOMC should opt against a 50-basis-point Fed rate cut. In line with this, the Franklin Templeton CEO said that she would go with a 25 bps rate cut if she were Jerome Powell.
