'Virtually inedible' food at Trump's State Fair should be an 'impeachable offense': WaPo

The catastrophes at Trump's "Great American State Fair" on the Washington Mall keep multiplying. Now adding to the inventory of failures—sparse crowds, broken rides, canceled concerts, collapsing structures, and hostile weather—is the food.

A Washington Post investigation found the culinary offerings included one that was deemed "virtually inedible," which seems par for the course for the much-maligned White House endeavor, with the report noting, "We also found snacks that should be impeachable offenses."

The most basic problem, according to the Post, it is difficult to find food, bad as it is.

"Pavilions with generic 'FOOD' banners in all caps offer little help," including one pavilion's banner advertising pizza, but "once you set foot in the building, you find mostly turkey legs and burgers — with nary a slice in sight," the Post reported.

Smoked turkey legs emerged as the fair's rare success story — albeit at a shocking price point. Troy Warren and his son from Missouri told the Post they paid more than $20 for a single turkey leg and then offered, "The tenderness of the turkey on the inside is very good.”

Then there were the losers.

Chocolate chip cookie ($4): "Anyone, and everyone, involved in this baking travesty should be impeached. The cookie is minuscule. The dough is nondescript. And the chocolate chips are few and far between," the Post reporters noted.

A bacon, egg and cheese foot-long pretzel roll ($12), was described as an "oily vehicle" for an "incredibly salty payload," with scrambled egg that "barely registered" and "undercooked bacon."

Teriyaki chicken with steamed rice and Asian slaw ($16) got the worst review, with the Post reporters stating it was "virtually inedible," adding it was a "bland interpretation of a dish that usually coats the featured protein in a sweet, savory and deeply satisfying glaze."
