MEXC is our top pick on cost within this nine-platform comparison.
Two of the five Solana-native tokens we sampled trade on MEXC at 0.0000% maker and 0.0000% taker on their USDC pairs, and Solana network withdrawals cost 0.000037 SOL.
Only two of the nine platforms carried every token we tested.

Key Takeaways
  • MEXC is our top pick on cost here, with JUP/USDC and PUMP/USDC both published at 0.0000% maker and 0.0000% taker on 2026-08-27.
  • Solana network withdrawals from MEXC cost 0.000037 SOL, so moving back on-chain is a fraction of a cent.
  • Only Gate and Coinbase carried all five sample tokens, while MEXC carried three.
  • Published counts of "Solana ecosystem tokens" ran from 156 to 1,832 on the same day, so no exchange's number is comparable to another's.
  • On-chain venues ranked inside the top ten markets for two of our five tokens, so the answer is which route per token, not CEX versus DEX.
  • If you only hold SOL itself, almost any major exchange will do and a locally licensed one may suit you better.

The Solana Ecosystem Token Count Nobody Can Verify

Ask two exchanges how many Solana ecosystem tokens they list and you get answers an order of magnitude apart.
Kraken's Solana Ecosystem category page showed 156 assets when we checked it on 2026-08-26.
Bitget's equivalent category page showed 1,832.
Neither number is wrong, because neither platform is counting the same thing.
Look at what sits at the top of those lists and the reason becomes obvious.
Kraken's Solana Ecosystem list, sorted by market cap, opens with Tether, USDC, SOL, USDS, Wrapped Bitcoin, Chainlink, USD1, Ethena USDe, Global Dollar and PayPal USD.
Seven of those ten are stablecoins.
Most of the rest are multi-chain assets that happen to have an SPL representation, not projects built on Solana.
So a reader trying to pick a venue for actual Solana-native tokens gets a headline count that is mostly stablecoins and wrapped Bitcoin.
That is the gap this article exists to close.
We ignored every published count and priced a fixed basket of Solana-native tokens across nine platforms instead.

Why MEXC is our top pick on cost

Here is the problem a Solana rotation trader actually has.
You are not trading once.
You are moving between four or five names a month as the sector rotates, and every one of those moves costs you something before the trade is even right or wrong.
On-chain, that cost is not one number.
It is the swap fee, plus the priority fee you paid to get included, plus slippage against a pool that may be thinner than the quote suggested, plus the risk that you approved the wrong contract address entirely.
The last one is not a fee.
It is a total loss, and it happens to experienced people.

What MEXC does differently

MEXC prices at least two of the Solana-native pairs we checked at zero on both sides of the book.
On MEXC's official fee page, retrieved 2026-08-27, JUP/USDC and PUMP/USDC both carry a 0 Fees tag at 0.0000% maker and 0.0000% taker.
The USDT pairs for the same two tokens run 0.0000% maker and 0.0500% taker, with a 20% MX deduction available.
On the same page, SOL deposits over the native Solana network are free, the minimum withdrawal is 0.02 SOL, and the withdrawal fee is 0.000037 SOL.
That last figure matters more than it looks.
It means the exchange is not a one-way door.
You can hold a position on the order book, withdraw the asset to your own Solana wallet over the native network for a fraction of a cent, and go back on-chain whenever a token you want is not listed.

What that is worth on a real position

Take a $5,000 round trip on JUP, bought and sold.
On the JUP/USDC pair at 0.0000% taker, the matching cost is $0.00 on both legs.
On the JUP/USDT pair at 0.0500% taker, the same round trip costs $5.00, or $4.00 with the MX deduction applied.
Run that same $5,000 round trip through a Raydium standard pool at 0.25% and you are at $25.00 before priority fees and slippage.
Now put it on a rotation trader's real cadence.
Four round trips a month at $5,000 each, counting both legs, is $480,000 of traded volume a year.
At a 0.25% standard pool fee that is about $1,200 a year in swap fees alone.
On a zero-fee pair it is nothing.
Even against a 0.10% exchange taker rate, the same $480,000 of annual volume costs $480.
None of this makes MEXC the right venue for every Solana token, and the coverage table below shows exactly where it is not.
What it does mean is that on those pairs, the matching cost cannot go lower, because zero is the floor.

How we built the sample

We defined the basket before measuring anything, so the result could not be tuned.
The rule was: Solana-native tokens only.
Stablecoins are excluded, and so is any asset whose home chain is elsewhere and which merely has an SPL version, which removes Wrapped Bitcoin, Chainlink and similar names from consideration.
From what remained we took five tokens across three tiers by market capitalisation.
The head tier is JUP and PUMP.
The middle tier is JTO and KMNO.
The lower and meme tier is FARTCOIN.
For each token we opened its CoinGecko Markets tab and recorded which venues appeared among the first ten spot markets under CoinGecko's default ranking, which weights liquidity and trust score rather than raw volume alone.
Measurements were taken on 2026-08-26 and 2026-08-27.
This is a liquidity test, not a listing census.
A platform can list a token and still not appear, because the test asks where the depth actually is.
Anyone can reproduce it in about fifteen minutes.

What nine platforms actually carried

The nine venues are MEXC, Binance, OKX, Bybit, Bitget, Gate, KuCoin, Coinbase and Kraken.
We excluded BitMart, which announced its exit on 26 July 2026 and stopped trading on 26 August 2026, because a platform that is closing is not an alternative.

Coverage measured 2026-08-26 and 2026-08-27 from each token's CoinGecko Markets tab. MEXC figures verified against MEXC's official fee page on 2026-08-27. Competitor fee and withdrawal figures are marked Not verified because they could not be confirmed from a publicly accessible official page on the retrieval date, and we do not publish numbers we have not checked ourselves.
Two things in that table are worth saying out loud.
The first is that MEXC is not the coverage leader.
Gate and Coinbase carried all five sample tokens.
MEXC carried three, and was absent from the top ten markets for both KMNO and FARTCOIN.
We are naming MEXC our top pick on cost, not on breadth, and the table is printed as measured rather than as we would have preferred it.
The second is the column of Not verified entries.
Every ranking page you will read on this topic prints a tidy fee column for all nine venues.
We could not confirm most of those numbers from official pages on the day we looked, so we left them blank and said why.

Where the field actually split

The head tier told us almost nothing.
JUP appeared on seven of the nine, PUMP on eight.
If your Solana exposure stops at the two largest ecosystem tokens, venue choice is close to irrelevant and you should pick on fees, custody and jurisdiction instead.
The split arrived lower down.
KMNO drew five of the nine, and FARTCOIN drew five, but not the same five.
OKX, Bybit and MEXC all missed FARTCOIN's top ten.
KuCoin and Kraken were absent from KMNO's.
That is the practical finding: the platform that serves your large-cap Solana holdings is frequently not the platform serving your rotation names, and most people end up holding accounts on two.
Depth varies as sharply as presence does.
On PUMP, MEXC ran $29,808,621 of 24-hour volume, 10.48% of the token's global total, with a 0.02% spread and $198,553 of depth within 2% of mid.
On JTO, the same venue sat tenth with $89,257 and 0.23% of global volume.
Same exchange, same week, two Solana-native tokens, a difference of more than three hundred times in traded volume.
A listing is not liquidity, and no published token count will ever tell you which one you are getting.
Depth on a single token tells the same story across the field.
On PUMP, order book depth within 2% of mid ranged from $109,673 to $727,531 across the nine venues on 2026-08-26.
The deepest book belonged to Kraken, which carried only two of our five sample tokens.
Breadth and depth are separate questions, and no single venue in this comparison led on both.

SPL Tokens on a CEX or On-Chain? The Real Question Is How Long

The usual advice is that centralised venues are for large caps and on-chain venues are for everything new.
Our data half-agrees, and the half it disagrees with is the interesting part.
On-chain venues did not merely exist alongside the exchanges in this sample.
They ranked inside the top ten markets.
Orca held 24.57% of KMNO's 24-hour volume, the single largest share of any venue for that token.
Raydium and Hyperliquid both placed inside FARTCOIN's top ten.
So for at least two of our five tokens, ignoring on-chain liquidity would mean ignoring where a meaningful share of the trading is.
Here is the honest version.

For a token minted an hour ago, on-chain is the only route

No centralised exchange lists a token that did not exist this morning, and no amount of listing speed changes that.
If your strategy is buying things in their first hours, you need a Solana wallet, and this article cannot talk you out of that.

For a token that has been picked up by exchanges, the calculation inverts

Order book matching replaces pool pricing, so slippage stops being a function of how much liquidity happens to sit in one pool.
Contract address risk drops away, because you are selecting a ticker from the exchange's own list rather than pasting a mint address.
And on a zero-fee pair, the matching cost is nothing at all.
The real question was never CEX or DEX.
It is how long a token sits on-chain before an exchange picks it up, because that window is exactly how long you are paying on-chain costs and carrying on-chain risks.
MEXC also runs a pre-market service that opens a narrow path before a listing goes live, though it is worth being precise about scale.
On 2026-08-27 the pre-market page listed two tokens as available, and neither was a Solana ecosystem token.
It is a per-project window rather than a standing option, and MEXC's official page states that if a seller fails to deliver, the platform refunds the full order amount and pays compensation calculated as the matched order percentage multiplied by the seller's collateral.
Check the trading rules on that page before placing an order, since terms are set per project.
For the mechanics of buying on-chain first and moving later, our step-by-step guide to buying Solana meme coins covers the wallet and swap side, and our guide to Solana explorers and token scanners covers verifying a contract address before you sign anything.

The 9 Solana Exchanges, One by One

Gate covered all five sample tokens, the joint-best result in this comparison.
Its Solana ecosystem breadth is genuinely wide.
We could not verify its published spot fee schedule from a public official page on the retrieval date.
Coinbase also covered all five, and did it while operating as a US-listed public company with the disclosure obligations that come with that.
For readers who weight regulatory standing above cost, that combination is difficult to match.
Its published fee rates are higher than most venues here, and we could not verify the current schedule from a public official page on the retrieval date.
Binance covered four of five and led both PUMP and JTO on volume among the nine venues we measured.
OKX covered four of five, including KMNO, where the largest single market on the day was on-chain rather than on any exchange.
It also operates a large on-chain aggregation layer, which makes it one of the few venues where the exchange and wallet sides are tightly integrated.
Bybit covered four of five with consistent mid-table depth, and offers derivatives coverage well beyond spot.
Bitget covered three of five, and was one of only five venues carrying FARTCOIN.
Its copy trading product has a long track record on the platform.
KuCoin covered two of five.
It carried FARTCOIN when four larger venues did not, which fits its pattern of listing rotation names early.
Kraken covered two of five, but posted the deepest book in the entire sample on any single token, with $727,531 of depth within 2% of mid on PUMP.
Its regulatory footprint across the US, UK and EU is among the strongest here.
MEXC covered three of five.
It was second globally on PUMP with 10.48% of volume, tenth on JTO with 0.23%, and absent from KMNO and FARTCOIN.
Its cost structure on the pairs it does carry is the lowest we verified, and it supports native Solana network withdrawals at 0.000037 SOL.

Which Solana Exchange Is Right for You

If you rotate between Solana-native tokens and cost compounds for you, MEXC is our pick.
Zero-fee USDC pairs on JUP and PUMP plus a fraction-of-a-cent native SOL withdrawal means you can trade the listed names cheaply and move back on-chain whenever you need something that is not listed yet.
Open an account, check whether the specific pair you want carries the 0 Fees tag on the fee page, and keep a Solana wallet for the rest.
If breadth of Solana ecosystem coverage is what you need, this comparison points elsewhere.
Gate and Coinbase carried every token we sampled and MEXC did not.
If you buy tokens in their first hours, no exchange on this list is your answer.
You need a wallet and an on-chain venue, and you should read the risk section below twice.
If you are in the United States or the United Kingdom, use a platform licensed in your jurisdiction.
MEXC does not serve US users, and readers in these markets should choose from locally regulated venues rather than from this list.

What you are risking

Solana-native tokens outside the top few names are volatile, thinly held, and in many cases have no revenue behind them at all.
Low-cap tokens can be easy to buy and hard to sell, and the depth figures above show why: on PUMP alone, the shallowest book in our sample held $109,673 within 2% of mid against the deepest at $727,531.
On-chain, verify every contract address against a block explorer before signing, because token names are not unique and impersonation is routine.
Newly listed tokens on any exchange carry elevated risk and are frequently placed in a separate risk zone with its own disclosures.
Never commit money you cannot afford to lose entirely.
A note on regulatory standing, since it belongs in any honest comparison.
MEXC appears on the European Securities and Markets Authority's register of entities identified as non-compliant, following a decision by the Netherlands Authority for the Financial Markets dated September 2025, and the MiCA transitional period ended in July 2026.
MEXC also appears on Japan's Financial Services Agency list of unregistered operators, in entries dated March 2023 and November 2024.
MEXC should not be described as a regulated platform, and readers who require a licensed counterparty should choose accordingly.
Further detail is available from the AFM's published warning.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best exchange for Solana ecosystem tokens?
MEXC is our top pick on cost in this nine-platform comparison, with 0.0000% maker and taker on tagged pairs such as JUP/USDC.
Gate and Coinbase covered more of our sample basket.

Can I buy Solana ecosystem tokens without using a DEX?
Yes, for tokens that exchanges have listed, and every name in our sample basket appeared on at least five of the nine venues.
Tokens minted within the last few hours are only available on-chain.

Why do exchanges report such different numbers of Solana ecosystem tokens?
Because each platform defines the category differently, with some counting stablecoins and multi-chain assets that merely have an SPL version.
Published counts ranged from 156 to 1,832 on 2026-08-26.

Is it cheaper to buy SPL tokens on an exchange or on-chain?
On a zero-fee exchange pair, a $5,000 round trip costs $0.00 in matching fees, against $25.00 through a 0.25% on-chain pool before priority fees and slippage.
On-chain remains the only option for unlisted tokens.

Does MEXC support native Solana network withdrawals?
Yes.
SOL withdrawals over the Solana network cost 0.000037 SOL with a 0.02 SOL minimum, and deposits are free, per MEXC's official fee page retrieved 2026-08-27.

How long does a new Solana token take to reach a centralised exchange?
There is no fixed window, and most tokens never list at all.
Until a listing happens, on-chain venues are the only route.

Are Solana ecosystem tokens available in the US?
Availability varies by platform and by token, and MEXC does not serve US users.
US readers should use an exchange licensed in their jurisdiction.
