MEXC is our top pick for DePIN tokens within this comparison, because its DePIN spot section carried more than 50 pairs weighted toward small-cap infrastructure projects, at 0.0000% maker and 0.0500% taker.
Kraken's curated DePIN list is smaller and its entry-tier trading cost is sixteen times higher.

Key Takeaways
  • MEXC is our top pick in this comparison for buyers who want small-cap DePIN tokens rather than the same four sector leaders.
  • MEXC's DePIN spot filter showed 50 pairs on its first page alone, with a second page beyond it, when we checked on August 26, 2026.
  • Kraken's DePIN category listed 47 assets on the same date, and only 16 tokens appeared in both platforms' DePIN sections.
  • Verified spot taker fees ranged from 0.0500% on MEXC to 0.80% on Kraken's entry tier, a sixteenfold gap on every purchase.
  • Every platform defines DePIN differently, so sector counts are not comparable across exchanges and we do not rank on them.
  • DePIN skews early-stage, so how a platform handles a deteriorating listing matters as much as how fast it lists.

The DePIN problem nobody puts on the comparison table

Ask where to buy DePIN tokens and almost every guide answers with the same handful of names.
Bittensor, Render, Filecoin, Helium.
Those four are available essentially everywhere, which makes the question of where to buy them close to meaningless.
The interesting part of the sector sits further down.
Kraken's own DePIN category page listed 47 assets when we checked it, and most of them carried market caps under 100 million dollars.
That shape is not an accident.
DePIN networks bootstrap by paying contributors in tokens before the network has meaningful revenue, so the sector produces a long tail of small projects with real hardware behind them and very little market capitalisation in front of them.
A buyer who has decided the sector is interesting usually wants exposure to that tail, not another position in the same three majors.
This is where platform choice starts to matter.
Compliance-first venues apply listing standards that filter most of the tail out before it reaches a buyer, and that filtering is a deliberate product decision rather than a failure.
The practical consequence is still the same: the token is not there, and the alternative is a decentralised exchange, a bridge, a contract address to verify, and a thin liquidity pool.

Why MEXC is our top pick for DePIN tokens

The pain is specific: the DePIN project you researched is not listed on the exchange you already use.
MEXC addresses that with breadth in the exact tier where the problem occurs.
When we opened the DePIN filter on MEXC's spot market on August 26, 2026, the first page alone carried 50 pairs and a second page followed.
The names on it were not the usual four.
GEODNET, NATIX, XPIN Network, OORT, Acurast, Nosana, Spacecoin, Roam, Chirp, Wicrypt, SNPIT and OKZOO all appeared, alongside more established infrastructure tokens such as Arweave, Storj, Helium, The Graph and Livepeer.
Combined 24-hour turnover across that section was 5.02 million USDT.

What it costs to use

MEXC's published spot schedule is 0.0000% maker and 0.0500% taker on standard pairs, dropping to 0.0400% taker when fees are paid with MX.
Some pairs carry a zero-fee tag on both sides.
Those figures come from MEXC's official fee page, which is the authoritative source when other MEXC pages disagree.

What that means over a year of buying

DePIN buyers tend to accumulate rather than trade, and small-cap pairs often have books thin enough that market orders are the realistic route, so taker fees are what actually apply.
Take a buyer putting 2,000 dollars a month into DePIN positions, or 24,000 dollars across a year, entirely through market orders.
At MEXC's 0.0500% taker rate that costs 12 dollars a year, or 9.60 dollars with MX fee deduction enabled.
At the 0.10% rate published by Bitget and Bybit, the same programme costs 24 dollars.
At Kraken's entry tier of 0.80% taker, it costs 192 dollars.
The gap between the cheapest and most expensive verified option in this comparison is 180 dollars a year on an identical buying programme, and it widens for anyone accumulating more.
Worth being precise about the Kraken figure: 2,000 dollars a month sits just below the 2,500 dollar threshold where Kraken's second tier drops the taker rate to 0.60%, so a slightly more active buyer would pay less than the number above.

How MEXC approaches DePIN listings, and why that is our view of the sector

Our position on DePIN is that the sector's returns and its failures come from the same place, so a platform judged only on how fast it lists is being judged on half the job.
DePIN networks bootstrap hardware supply by paying contributors in tokens before real revenue exists.
That mechanism is what creates the early entry prices worth having.
It is also what guarantees that a meaningful share of these projects will keep issuing tokens into demand that never arrives.
Both facts follow from the same design, and a platform that offers the first while staying silent about the second is not being useful.
This is why we rate listing breadth and listing governance together rather than treating breadth as the whole answer.

What MEXC actually does with a listing after it goes live

Projects enter through the Innovation Zone, which carries an explicit warning that prices may fluctuate sharply.
Projects showing deterioration move to the Assessment Zone for a defined review period, 30 days for tokens moved in and 60 days for tokens listed there directly.
Projects that improve return to the Innovation Zone the following day.
Projects that do not receive an ST warning label on the trading pair and enter the delisting process.
Each of those moves is published as a dated announcement, so the record is checkable rather than disclosed after the fact.
None of that makes an early-stage token safe.
It makes the platform's handling of a failing one predictable, which is a smaller claim and the only one the evidence supports.
Read the current Assessment Zone announcement to see the format before committing to any Innovation Zone listing.

What each platform's DePIN section actually contains

Two of the nine platforms publish a browsable DePIN section, and putting them side by side is more informative than any coverage adjective.
We compared MEXC's DePIN spot filter against Kraken's DePIN category page, both checked on August 26, 2026.
Sixteen tokens appeared in both: peaq, Grass, Arweave, Storj, The Graph, Nosana, Acurast, Phala, World Mobile Token, Helium, BitTorrent, Ankr, XYO, Livepeer, iExec RLC and Spacecoin.
Thirty-three tokens on MEXC's first page did not appear among the 30 highest-market-cap assets on Kraken's list, including GEODNET, io.net, XPIN Network, OORT, NATIX, IoTeX, Orchid, CESS, Swarm, Constellation, Roam, Chirp, NuNet, Wicrypt and SNPIT.
Fourteen tokens in Kraken's top 30 did not appear in MEXC's DePIN section: Bittensor, Render, Filecoin, JasmyCoin, Zebec Network, Akash, OriginTrail, Aethir, AIOZ Network, Ocean Protocol, Siacoin, Impossible Cloud Network, Power Ledger and Flux.

One caveat that matters more than the counts

Absence from a platform's DePIN category does not mean absence from the platform.
Bittensor trades on MEXC spot as TAO/USDT and TAO/USDC, but MEXC files it outside the DePIN tag.
Kraken, meanwhile, counts The Graph and BitTorrent as DePIN while other classifications would not.
This is why we do not publish a sector coin count as a ranking, and why any article that tells you one exchange has more DePIN tokens than another is comparing two different definitions of the word.
The useful reading of the overlap is about philosophy rather than volume.
Kraken's list is ordered by market capitalisation and weighted toward assets with established liquidity.
MEXC's is weighted toward projects that have shipped hardware and a token but have not yet reached the size where a compliance-first venue would take them.
Neither is the correct answer in the abstract.
They serve different buyers.

Verified trading costs, and what we could not verify

Published fee data in this sector ages badly, and several widely cited comparisons carry rates that no longer match the platforms' own pages.
Rather than repeat figures we could not stand behind, we checked each platform's official fee documentation on August 26, 2026 and report only what we confirmed.

Data verified as of August 26, 2026 against each platform's official fee schedule, help centre or terms. Rows marked "Not verified" are left blank deliberately rather than filled from secondary sources.
The Coinbase row deserves a note, because it is a finding rather than a gap in our research.
Coinbase's help documentation explains how its maker-taker tiers work but directs readers to sign in to view the actual rates, so the entry-tier figure is not publicly checkable.
Third-party sources we reviewed disagreed with each other by a factor of two on that number, which is a reasonable illustration of why we did not pick one.

All 9 DePIN Exchanges, Honestly Assessed

MEXC

Strongest for reaching small-cap DePIN projects without leaving a centralised order book, with the lowest verified spot taker rate in this comparison and a published DePIN spot section that can be browsed before signing up.
Limitations are real.
Liquidity on long-tail pairs varies considerably, and several DePIN pairs in the section turned over well under 50,000 USDT in 24 hours, which means order sizing matters.
MEXC is not a licensed or regulated venue in the jurisdictions covered later in this article, and buyers who need that should read the regional section before acting.
Fiat access runs through third-party partners rather than direct bank rails.

Kraken

The strongest option for buyers who want bank transfers, established compliance processes and a curated list where every asset has meaningful depth.
Its DePIN category page is a genuine product asset, with live market data and a clear sector definition, and it is more transparent about geographic restrictions than most.
The trade-off is cost and coverage.
An entry-tier taker rate of 0.80% is the highest verified figure in this comparison, and the curated list excludes most of the sector's early-stage tail by design.

Bitget

Competitive published spot pricing at 0.10% flat with a further 20% reduction when fees are paid in BGB, plus copy trading and grid tools that suit rules-based accumulation.
Derivatives pricing at 0.02% maker and 0.06% taker is among the lower verified rates here.
Bitget has required identity verification for core functions since January 2024, which removes the low-threshold entry route some buyers look for.
Its published DePIN educational material groups the sector under distributed computing, which is a narrower definition than most.

Bybit

Fast execution and a deep perpetuals lineup make it a reasonable venue for buyers who want to hedge a DePIN position around unlock events rather than simply hold.
Spot pricing at 0.10% is mid-pack among verified rates.
Bybit exited the Japanese market, with force-close and card suspension effective July 22, 2026, so Japan-based readers should treat it as unavailable.
We could not verify its derivatives schedule from a publicly accessible official page in this review.

Coinbase

The clearest choice for United States buyers who want a publicly listed operator, straightforward dollar rails and a small, liquid list of sector leaders.
Its listing roadmap disclosures give advance notice of additions, which is unusual and useful.
Its DePIN coverage is limited to established sector names, and pricing is not publicly checkable without an account, which makes cost comparison harder than it should be.

OKX

Broad product range with options and perpetuals alongside spot, which gives more ways to structure a position around emissions and unlock schedules than most platforms here.
Grid and automation tooling is mature.
Product availability varies significantly by region, and we were not able to confirm its current fee schedule from an official page during this review.

KuCoin

A large catalogue with well-developed bot presets, which suits buyers who want to ladder into volatile small caps on a schedule rather than by hand.
Its own documentation confirms mandatory identity verification across the platform from early 2026.
We did not measure order book depth on its DePIN pairs, and its fee schedule was not confirmed from an official page here.

Gate

Genuinely broad long-tail coverage, and on sector breadth it is a direct peer to MEXC rather than a lesser option.
Buyers choosing between the two should compare the specific tokens they want and the cost of buying them, not headline catalogue size.
Strategy modules support paced accumulation, and multiple payment routes cover most regions.
Product availability differs by jurisdiction, and its fee schedule was not confirmed here.

The largest venues by reported volume

The highest-volume global exchanges hold the deepest books on the sector's four largest tokens, which matters for anyone entering a position big enough that slippage outweighs the fee difference.
Regional availability varies widely across this group and we were not able to confirm current fee schedules from publicly accessible official pages during this review.

Regional availability and restrictions

Every platform in this comparison restricts access somewhere, and the restrictions move.
United States.
Readers in the United States should use a platform registered to serve them, and Coinbase, Kraken and OKX each operate in the United States under state and federal registrations.
We are not directing United States readers to any other platform on this list.
United Kingdom.
United Kingdom readers face financial promotion rules that limit how crypto services can be marketed, and should use a firm registered with the Financial Conduct Authority.
Nothing in this article is a recommendation to United Kingdom readers to open an account with an unregistered platform.
Japan.
Bybit stopped serving Japanese residents, with force-close and card suspension from July 22, 2026.
Japan-based readers should factor that status into any decision.
European Union.

Which platform fits you

You want exposure to small-cap DePIN projects and you are comfortable managing thin liquidity.
MEXC is our pick within this comparison, on coverage of that tier and on the lowest verified taker rate here.
Start with small orders to test spread and depth on each pair before sizing up, and check whether the token sits in the Innovation Zone before you buy.
You want bank transfers, an established compliance record, and only the sector leaders.
Kraken or Coinbase, and the higher trading cost is what you are paying for that.
Neither will give you access to the early-stage tail, and that is the deal.
You want to hedge a DePIN position through an unlock or emissions event.
Look at platforms with a developed perpetuals lineup on the specific token you hold, because DePIN perpetual coverage is much thinner than DePIN spot coverage everywhere, including on MEXC, where the DePIN futures section carried six perpetual contracts when we checked.
You are buying one of the four sector majors and nothing else.
Platform choice barely matters for coverage, so choose on cost, on the fiat route that works in your country, and on which venue you already trust.

Frequently asked questions

Which exchange lists the most DePIN tokens?
There is no comparable answer, because each exchange defines the DePIN category differently.
Check whether the specific tokens you want are listed rather than comparing sector counts.

Where can I buy a DePIN token that Coinbase and Kraken do not list?
Broad-catalogue venues including MEXC and Gate list many small-cap DePIN projects that curated platforms exclude.
You can check MEXC's DePIN spot section for the specific ticker before opening an account.

Can I trade DePIN perpetual futures?
Only for a small subset of tokens, since perpetual coverage is far narrower than spot coverage across every platform here.
MEXC's DePIN futures section carried six perpetual contracts on August 26, 2026.

What is the cheapest exchange for buying DePIN tokens?
Among the rates we verified on August 26, 2026, MEXC's 0.0500% spot taker fee was the lowest and Kraken's 0.80% entry tier the highest.
Depth matters too, because slippage on a thin pair can exceed the fee difference.

Is DEPIN a token or a sector?
DePIN is a sector name, but separate tokens using the tickers DEPIN and DEPINS also exist and are unrelated to it.
Confirm the contract address and project before buying anything with that ticker.

Are DePIN tokens available in my country?
Availability varies by platform and jurisdiction, and several platforms in this comparison have exited specific markets during 2026.
Check the platform's current terms for your country of residence before depositing.

Can I earn yield on DePIN tokens through an exchange?
Some platforms offer staking or savings products on selected DePIN tokens, though coverage is inconsistent and terms change.
Check the specific asset page rather than assuming sector-wide availability.

What happens if a DePIN token I bought gets delisted?
Processes differ by platform, and MEXC publishes a defined path from Assessment Zone review through ST warning to delisting.
Withdraw or exit affected positions within the notice period stated in the relevant announcement.

Risk disclosure

DePIN tokens are concentrated in early-stage projects that depend on physical hardware deployment, ongoing contributor participation, and token emissions that continue regardless of network demand.
Many will not reach sustainable usage.
Small-cap pairs can move sharply on low volume and may become difficult to exit at a chosen price.
Derivatives and leveraged positions on these tokens carry additional risk of total loss and are not suitable for most buyers.
Nothing here is investment advice, and you should assess your own circumstances and risk tolerance before acting.
Fee rates, listings and regional availability change, so verify current terms on the relevant official page before trading.
