One of Solana’s Most Prominent Developers Has Issued a Warning About These Altcoins – “There Is a Risk of Fake Tokens”

Mert Mumtaz, a leading developer in the Solana ecosystem, made noteworthy statements regarding privacy-focused cryptocurrency projects amid discussions surrounding a security vulnerability in Zcash that could lead to the production of counterfeit ZEC.

Mumtaz stated that not only Zcash, but all privacy protocols, including Monero, face similar risks.

Following a user’s comment highlighting risks in Zcash’s current privacy pool, Mumtaz stated that significant security updates are included in Zcash’s development roadmap. According to Mumtaz, Zcash’s current architecture will soon become resilient against quantum attacks, and the officially validated Tachyon pool, scheduled for deployment later this year, will significantly mitigate these risks.

Mumtaz added that mathematical security guarantees for zero-knowledge proof circuits could be improved, stating that the arithmetic structure of the new circuit could be directly proven mathematically. While acknowledging that this wouldn’t completely eliminate the risk, the developer argued that it would reduce the risk profile on a magnitude-wise level and that this change would occur before the end of the year.

During the discussion, Mumtaz also responded to a user’s question, “Is this a positive development for Monero?”, saying, “All privacy protocols, including Monero, are vulnerable to fraudulent token generation errors.”
