Pi Network has pushed back against fresh rumors claiming its V26 protocol upgrade was canceled. New updates shared by community sources and on-chain screenshots show that Testnet 1 is already operating on Protocol Version 26. While the Mainnet continues its phased migration path.

The latest update comes as the Pi Network Protocol 23 Upgrade reaches a major milestone. According to posts shared by community contributor @PiNetworkAL. The Mainnet V23 rollout has now completed successfully. While the next iteration from version 23.0 to 24.1 is already progressing smoothly.

More importantly, the update directly rejected speculation surrounding a possible cancellation of V26. Instead, Pi developers appear to be following a staged deployment strategy. Testnet systems are receiving full-version verification first before upgrades gradually move across the Mainnet ecosystem. That approach aims to reduce risks tied to downtime, smart contract deployment, and infrastructure instability.

Testnet 1 Already Running V26

Recent screenshots from Pi’s node infrastructure show Testnet 1 permanently operating on V26. Community reports also claim versions 24, 25, and 26 were packaged together into a broader underlying protocol upgrade.

The official migration roadmap currently follows this sequence:

Developers also warned node operators not to upgrade all nodes simultaneously. The network advised operators to divert traffic temporarily during migration to avoid interruptions.

The update is important because V26 is expected to support broader ecosystem expansion. That includes smart contracts, decentralized applications, and improved node performance. Additionally,  privacy architecture and additional scalability upgrades are tied to Pi Network Consensus 2026 goals.

Why the V26 Rumors Started

Speculation around cancellation emerged after Pi adjusted parts of its upgrade timeline and delayed the Mainnet rollout of later protocol versions. However, the new Testnet data suggests the opposite. Instead of abandoning V26, Pi appears to be stress-testing the entire infrastructure before wider deployment.

Community posts described the strategy as “testnet early full-version verification plus stable phased Mainnet rollout.” That allows developers to complete database refinement, consensus optimization, and security testing before expanding ecosystem access. The rollout also follows one of Pi’s most technically difficult upgrades to date. Earlier migrations included deep database reconstruction alongside transitions from Ubuntu 20 to Ubuntu 24 and PostgreSQL 12 to PostgreSQL 16.

Consensus 2026 Focuses on Identity and AI

Meanwhile, Pi founder Nicolas Kokkalis recently appeared at Consensus 2026 to discuss digital identity verification in the AI era. During the panel, he explained how blockchain systems must verify real human participation without exposing unnecessary personal information. The discussion focused heavily on privacy-preserving identity systems as AI-generated bots become harder to detect online.

Pi positioned its Layer 1 blockchain, wallets, KYC infrastructure, and smart contract ecosystem as part of that long-term solution. The broader message behind the presentation aligns closely with Pi’s current infrastructure upgrades. As AI lowers barriers to building online systems, trusted human verification may become one of blockchain’s most valuable utilities. At the time of writing, Pi Network Price 2026 sentiment remained closely tied to $0.1501. With ongoing ecosystem progress and successful node migrations.
