President Donald Trump paused an event at the White House to ask UFC lightweight interim champion Justin Gaethje for his opinion on the war with Iran.
During an Oval Office meeting to promote an upcoming UFC fight on the White House lawn, a reporter noted that Iran had "refused to submit" despite an onslaught of attacks and other wartime measures.

"Well, why do you say they refuse to submit?" Trump grumbled. "You don't know that. You don't know what's going on."
"They were firing on U.S. ships a few days ago," the reporter said.
"Yeah, a few days ago is a long time ago," Trump replied. "You know, in the world of war a few days ago, no, they want to make a deal badly. But what's not to submit? So they had a Navy with 159 ships, and now every ship is blown to pieces and lying at the bottom of the water."
"And their leaders are all dead," he continued. "So I think we won."
Trump then turned to Gaethje for his take on the war.
"You would call that, we're in good shape, right?" the president asked Gaethje. "We're in good shape?"
'Fantastic shape," Gaethje assured him.
"Ah!" Trump exclaimed. "They want to make a deal. We've had very good talks over the last 24 hours, and it's very possible that we'll make a deal."
