The internet is a daily necessity in India, and here people do various activities daily, from UPI payments to social media. Everything is just one click away on the internet, and this is one of the biggest conveniences the world has.

Convenience comes with risk, and this one comes with the risk of scams, data theft, and cyber fraud. If someone is deciding to use an internet activity, choosing safety is essential. Here is a practice guide to help in staying safe while browsing online.

How to Stay Safe While Browsing Online?

Build a Strong Defence with Strong Passwords

The first thing is making sure no one can enter, not only in your device but also in your personal profiles or information, and for that, you need to put a strong password in everything.

Use different letters and characters to make a password; you can also use some websites that can give your ideas for that. Make sure that every password you use on anything is a strong one, because if one thing is hacked, it will put others at risk, too.

Verify everything before sharing information

On the internet, one thing that you are constantly sharing with different websites is your data, so make sure you are sharing it with the right one.

Check if the website URL starts with https:// or not, or if they are following the user safety. Be especially cautious while searching for topics like Dear Lottery or Shillong teer result today; many fake websites are available on the internet, so choose the official one wisely. Make sure you are not sharing much personal information if it’s optional on any platform.

Double the Protection with Two-Factor Authentication

Two-factor authentication helps add an extra layer of safety. Even if someone gets your password somehow, they can’t enter without the code sent to your mobile.

Many social media accounts and UPI apps offer 2FA, which helps people stay in an extra safe spot. Avoiding this option when you have the option of doing it can cost bigger things in the future.

Monitor Your UPI Transactions

In India, online transactions are in rapid growth, which makes monitoring them more crucial. Check your transactions and bank balance regularly, and if you notice any suspicious activity, without any delay, call your bank, or you can call 1930 (National Cybercrime Helpline). Quick actions may help you recover your lost funds.

Stay Away from Phishing Fraud

Phishing is one of the most common scams in India, and it is the scam that the generation that is not very aware of it falls into. In this scam, people send DMs, emails, or links claiming they are from banks or any legal authority.

The fraudster does not scan your bank details. UPI or even one click on any random link can take all your money and information. Be aware of these types of scams, and also be aware of people who don’t have much knowledge about them.

Don’t Use Public WIFI for Sensitive Tasks

Public Wi-Fi in railway stations and cafes may not be secure; hackers can easily get access to it and your data, too.

While using the Wi-Fi, avoid checking your banking apps, social media, or any other information that is important. Use a VPN for extra security. IN places like the library, people usually use the WIFI the most. Make sure you’re using the trusted one.

Use Every Social Media Platform Cautiously

Social media is the most obvious target of hackers; sharing too much information there can cause trouble. There are a lot of things happening on social media that are making people’s lives troubled, like stealing data or making deepfakes.

Share everything thoughtfully, and whenever something wrong happens, don’t delay in reporting it to the cybercrime unit. Don’t accept requests from strangers, and try to keep your status private as much as possible.

Updates Are Essential for Device Security

Software updates not only give new features, but they also fix security loopholes. Keep your laptop, smartphone, and each app fully updated. Install antivirus software on your device and keep it updated. Always downloaded the app from official sources and read all the instructions before confirming anything the app asks.

Conclusion:

Online safety is about changing some small habits; you don’t need to learn advanced technology. All the small details we discussed here can bring the big change, like two-factor authentication and strong passwords.

Because, now you are making things harder for the hacker. India became more digitally connected, and here, protecting the data is a responsibility. Enjoy the internet by staying alert and by keeping your loved one’s alert.

Bitcoin devs cheer block reconstruction stats, ignore security budget concerns

The post Bitcoin devs cheer block reconstruction stats, ignore security budget concerns appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. This morning, Bitcoin Core developers celebrated improved block reconstruction statistics for node operators while conveniently ignoring the reason for these statistics — the downward trend in fees for Bitcoin’s security budget. Reacting with heart emojis and thumbs up to a green chart showing over 80% “successful compact block reconstructions without any requested transactions,” they conveniently omitted red trend lines of the fees that Bitcoin users pay for mining security which powered those green statistics. Block reconstructions occur when a node requests additional information about transactions within a compact block. Although compact blocks allow nodes to quickly relay valid bundles of transactions across the internet, the more frequently that nodes can reconstruct without extra, cumbersome transaction requests from their peers is a positive trend. Because so many nodes switched over in August to relay transactions bidding 0.1 sat/vB across their mempools, nodes now have to request less transaction data to reconstruct blocks containing sub-1 sat/vB transactions. After nodes switched over in August to accept and relay pending transactions bidding less than 1 sat/vB, disparate mempools became harmonized as most nodes had a better view of which transactions would likely join upcoming blocks. As a result, block reconstruction times improved, as nodes needed less information about these sub-1 sat/vB transactions. In July, several miners admitted that user demand for Bitcoin blockspace had persisted at such a low that they were willing to accept transaction fees of just 0.1 satoshi per virtual byte — 90% lower than their prior 1 sat/vB minimum. With so many blocks partially empty, they succumbed to the temptation to accept at least something — even 1 billionth of one bitcoin (BTC) — rather than $0 to fill up some of the excess blockspace.
