MANILA, Philippines – ACT-CIS Representative Edvic Yap, brother of Benguet Representative Eric Yap, has stepped down from his congressional post, amid controversy surrounding his role in the flood control corruption scandal.

The House majority announced on the plenary floor on Wednesday, February 4, that Yap had sent a letter of resignation, resulting in his name being dropped from the roll of members.

Ombudsman Boying Remulla said in October that Yap received money via bank transfer from flood control contractors Curlee and Sarah Discaya before the pandemic.

In December, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. announced that the Court of Appeals had frozen the personal accounts of the Yap brothers, as well as companies linked to them, Silverwolves Construction and Sky Yard Aviation Corporation.

Edvic’s brother Eric is believed to be the beneficial owner of Silverwolves, which bagged over P16 billion in public works projects from 2022 to 2025. – Rappler.com
