Dennis Porter, founder of Satoshi Action, explained the radical shift in the US government and military’s perspective on Bitcoin. BTC is no longer seen merely as an investment, but as a critical component of national defense.

Dennis Porter reported on how Bitcoin is beginning to be considered a “national security tool” behind closed doors in Washington. According to Porter, high-ranking military officials and lawmakers are now incorporating BTC’s technical infrastructure into defense strategies.

Porter pointed to a recent congressional hearing attended by a four-star admiral (Admiral Paparo). Porter noted that the admiral told members of Congress and the Senate that they were researching Bitcoin and the “Proof of Work” mechanism for national defense purposes.

This is seen as the most concrete evidence that Bitcoin is being considered a tool for projecting power at the military level.

One of the most striking details is Bitcoin’s use as an “economic deterrent” against cyberattacks. Porter likens BTC’s transaction fees to the use of “stamps” in physical mail. While free emails increase spam traffic, every transaction on the Bitcoin network requires a cost. This makes mass intrusion attempts and cyberattacks targeting military networks or critical infrastructure costly and unsustainable for the attacker.

In current warfare, shooting down inexpensive drones with million-dollar missiles is costly for the defense, but a Bitcoin-based cyber defense system aims to increase the cost for the attacker, thereby shifting the advantage to the defense.

Dennis Porter argued that while it’s encouraging that the US possesses 38% of Bitcoin mining power (hash rate), the fact that 97% of this hardware is of Chinese origin poses a significant risk. Porter stated that the “Mining in America” bill, which mandates the production of mining hardware in the US, is essential for national security.

Furthermore, intensive efforts are underway at both the state and federal levels to establish a “Strategic Bitcoin Reserve” in the US. Porter stated that the creation of this reserve would send a very strong signal to the world and would compel other governments to purchase Bitcoin as well.

According to Dennis Porter, BTC is no longer just a financial asset; it’s becoming a digital shield that the US uses to protect its cyber borders and gain a technological advantage over its rivals.
