MEXC vs CoinChief (OmniX): How Much Less Does MEXC Charge Than a 0.20% Spot Fee?

MEXC charges less: 0% maker and 0.05% taker on spot against the 0.20% on CoinChief's fee page, and 0% and 0.02% on BTC perpetuals against 0.025% and 0.060%.
A weekly spot and futures routine costs 11 USDT on MEXC and 36 on CoinChief, which is rebranding as OmniX.

Key Takeaways
  • MEXC is cheaper for manual traders, since its spot schedule charges 0% maker and 0.05% taker against CoinChief's 0.20% on both sides.
  • On BTC perpetuals, MEXC charges 0% maker and 0.02% taker, while CoinChief's fee page lists 0.025% and 0.060%.
  • Priced weekly, one 3,000 USDT spot trade and one 20,000 USDT BTC perpetual trade cost 36 USDT on CoinChief against 11 USDT on MEXC.
  • Bots are the exception, because MEXC bills API orders 0.06% maker and 0.08% taker, above CoinChief's published futures rates.
  • CoinChief announced on September 21, 2026 that it is becoming OmniX, without a date for the switch, a new domain or details on accounts and fees.
  • MEXC is tracked by CoinGecko at 9 out of 10 and has its reserves audited monthly by Hacken, while CoinChief has no CoinGecko page and no reserve report we could find.

CoinChief has just announced a new name, OmniX, and a much wider brief, but its fee page still carries a date from February 2024.
That page is the clearest public document the exchange offers, so this comparison starts from it.
This CoinChief vs MEXC comparison prices a week of trades on both published schedules, then covers the rebrand, outside checks, withdrawal costs and who each exchange suits.

How Much Does One Week of Spot and Futures Trading Cost on Each Exchange?

On a weekly routine of one 3,000 USDT spot round trip and one 20,000 USDT BTC perpetual round trip, both at market, CoinChief charges 36 USDT and MEXC 11 USDT.
Over a year that is 1,872 USDT against 572, because CoinChief's published rates are 0.20% on spot and 0.060% on futures takers.
A flat 0.20% spot fee charges limit orders the same as market orders, so a patient trader gets no discount for adding liquidity.
On futures, CoinChief bills 0.025% even on resting limit orders and 0.060% when an order takes liquidity, per a fee page dated February 1, 2024 that was still live on October 7, 2026.
MEXC prices the two sides differently: makers pay nothing on spot or on the BTCUSDT and ETHUSDT perpetuals, while spot takers pay 0.05% and BTCUSDT takers 0.02%.
Those rates appear on the MEXC fee page as read on September 10, 2026.
In our ranking of how futures rates compare at the biggest venues, that BTCUSDT rate is the lowest standard-tier futures fee among the major exchanges.
Here is the weekly routine priced out.
A 3,000 USDT spot round trip at market costs 12 USDT on CoinChief, 6 on each side, and 3 USDT on MEXC, or 2.40 with the fee paid in MX.
For the 20,000 USDT BTC position, in and out at market, CoinChief takes 24 USDT and MEXC 8.
Swap the market entry for a resting limit order and CoinChief still charges 17 USDT, against 4 on MEXC.
Fifty-two weeks of that routine add up to 1,872 USDT on CoinChief and 572 on MEXC.
Two cases narrow or reverse the gap.
Where MEXC applies its standard regional tier of 0.01% maker and 0.04% taker, the futures round trip comes to 16 USDT, which is still below CoinChief's 24.
Automated traders face the reverse result: MEXC's API rates of 0.06% maker and 0.08% taker make the futures round trip 32 USDT, against CoinChief's 24.
Slippage and funding payments are extra on both exchanges.

The MEXC View

Since MEXC publishes this page, read what follows as our own position, and start with the places where CoinChief comes out ahead.
Our October 7, 2026 regulator scan found no notice on CoinChief, while MEXC carries 2026 actions from the Seychelles FSA and Dubai's VARA.
Deposits are free on CoinChief, its single 0.20% spot rate is easy to read, and API traders pay less there than on our API schedule.
Our case is cost and evidence: no maker fee on spot or on our main perpetuals, a spot taker rate a quarter of CoinChief's, a 9 out of 10 CoinGecko score and reserves audited every month.
The weaknesses this page does not cover are listed in the shortcomings our own MEXC review records.

Which Rows of Our Six-Part Review Go to CoinChief, and Which to MEXC?

MEXC leads on spot and futures fees for manual traders, on outside verification and on USDT withdrawal cost, while CoinChief leads on fees for API bots and has the cleaner regulator record in our scan.
CoinChief also publishes no coin count that an outside tracker confirms.
The note under the table gives the date of every figure.

What Does the OmniX Rebrand Change, and What Does It Leave Open?

CoinChief's September 21, 2026 announcement renames it OmniX and recasts it as an all-sector financial platform built around an exchange, a wallet and a brokerage.
It does not say when the switch happens, which domain OmniX will use, or whether accounts, balances and fees carry over.
The new positioning lists seven sectors, from digital assets, RWA and stocks to ETFs, Web3 and what it calls intelligent financial services.
It also says OmniX will introduce an AI agent system for trading and asset management.
The announcement describes the exchange as a compliance trading hub but names no licence or regulator.
By October 7, 2026, the website's page title already read OmniX, while its fee page still carried the Coin Chief name and the February 2024 date.
Until a new domain is announced on the platform itself, type the address you already use rather than following links that claim to be OmniX.
Fee pages can change after a rebrand, so a dated screenshot of the schedule you trade on is worth keeping.

Which Exchange Can You Check From the Outside?

MEXC can be checked from the outside: CoinGecko scored it 9 out of 10 on October 7, 2026, tracked about 618 million USD in its reserves, and Hacken audits those reserves every month.
CoinChief has no CoinGecko page, and we found no proof-of-reserves report for it.
CoinGecko's MEXC page also shows 1,450 coins across 1,834 pairs and three CORE3 security stars, with no incident recorded.
MEXC's September audit, published on its proof-of-reserves page, put BTC reserves at nearly three times user balances, 297%, and USDT at 119%.
CoinChief's fee page is the only primary source for its rates, and its February 1, 2024 date is now more than two and a half years old.
How audited reserve reports differ from tracker estimates is covered in what a proof-of-reserves report can show.
On regulator records CoinChief is the cleaner of the two, since our October 7, 2026 scan found no notice on it, while MEXC carries the actions below.
In a May 26, 2026 statement, the Seychelles Financial Services Authority said it was initiating enforcement measures against MX Global Ltd, which it names as operator of the MEXC platform, because that company holds no licence for the virtual asset services it provides.
A month later, Dubai's Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority published a notice of fines against the same company for serving customers in Dubai without a licence between 2022 and April 2026 and for onboarding users without meeting UAE know-your-customer requirements.
Against that, VARA's notice records the company's cooperation, its compliance once told to stop and its intention to apply for a licence.

What Does Moving USDT Cost on Each Exchange?

Moving USDT out costs less on MEXC: 0.5 USDT on TRC20 as recorded on August 28, 2026, against 1.5 USDT on CoinChief's TRC20 line.
CoinChief's cheapest USDT route is BEP20 at 1 USDT, and its ERC20 withdrawals cost 5 USDT.
Deposits are free on CoinChief, according to its fee page.
The same page says the platform may adjust withdrawal fees periodically based on market conditions, so the fee shown at the moment of withdrawal is the one that applies.
For Bitcoin, MEXC charged 0.00002 BTC per withdrawal, one of the withdrawal and trading fees in our 12-exchange index.
Before a large transfer, send a small test amount on a network both sides support.

Hand-Placed Orders or API Bots: Which Trader Does Each Exchange Suit?

Manual traders who place limit orders or trade BTC and ETH perpetuals pay less on MEXC in every scenario we priced.
Bot operators trading futures through an API are the exception, since MEXC's API schedule of 0.06% and 0.08% sits above CoinChief's published 0.025% and 0.060%.
Choose MEXC for spot trading with no maker fee, BTCUSDT and ETHUSDT perpetuals, a CoinGecko-tracked venue and a monthly reserve audit.
Stay with CoinChief only if an API futures strategy is the main use and you accept a venue that no tracker currently scores.
Whichever you use, keep a record of the fee schedule and the domain you log in to while CoinChief becomes OmniX.
For a wider field, our guide covers five more exchanges we compared with CoinChief.
US, UK and Australian readers are better protected on a locally authorised platform.
For readers in the EU and EEA, the closing notice explains that MEXC lacks MiCA authorisation.

Risk Warning and Regional Notice

Perpetual futures and leverage amplify both gains and losses, and positions can be liquidated for the full margin amount.
At 500x, a move of roughly 0.2% against a position can trigger liquidation, so high tiers suit only experienced traders with strict risk controls.

In the EU and EEA, MEXC is not authorized under the Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA).

In a June 22, 2026 notice of fines, Dubai's Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority said the entity operating as MEXC had served customers in Dubai without a licence from 2022 to April 2026 and onboarded users without meeting UAE know-your-customer requirements, and that it cooperated, complied with cease-and-desist orders and intends to seek a licence.
